Obama Appoints Sotomayor

Judge Sonia SotomayorThe appointment of Federal Appeals Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court makes President Barack Obama only the third U.S. president to name a woman to the top court. President Reagan was the first when he appointed Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who served from 1981 - 2006. Current Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was appointed by President Clinton in 1993.
