Ready to Run™ (Nebraska)

Nebraska's Ready to Run™ workshop offers an annual, day-long non-partisan political training for women who want to run for office, seek higher office, work on a campaign, get appointed to office, or learn more about the political system. Policy experts, party officials, campaign consultants, and prominent elected and appointed leaders provide insight to participants. The program is sponsored by the Women's Fund of Omaha and the Lincoln Mayor's Commission on Women.

Campaign Trainings (women and men)
Sponsored by the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation
The Nebraska Farm Bureau offers a biennial Campaign School for candidates for public office, their spouses and campaign managers, as well as prospective candidates and campaign managers considering races in future cycles. The Campaign School uses content developed by the American Farm Bureau with input from political consultants and staff of both national political parties. Program curriculum is applicable to local, state and national political races and includes:
- evaluating the viability of the candidacy
- selecting themes and issues
- budgeting and raising money
- working with the news media; and
- campaign organization and strategy.

Leadership Training Programs For Women
ICAN Women's Leadership Conference

The annual ICAN Women's Leadership conference is a one-day program that educates women about the important tools for leadership, inspires them to take on leadership roles, and provides a space for networking and connection with other women professionals. Beyond its keynote speakers, the conference offers break-out sessions that cover topics ranging from leadership styles and skills to goal-setting and taking advantage of social media. Leadership Lincoln
Founded in 1985, Leadership Lincoln trains youth and adult community leaders to help strengthen the community in Lincoln and Lancaster County. The ten-month Leadership Lincoln Fellows Program exposes community leaders to important issues in the region and emphasizes leadership skills training. Selected participants attend eight monthly full-day seminars in addition to retreats held at the beginning and end of the program.

Leadership Omaha

Sponsored by the Greater Omaha Chamber since 1978, Leadership Omaha develops effective leaders who will strengthen and transform the community. Forty-three to 48 participants are selected annually to participate in the 10-month program, which focuses on community trusteeship, leadership styles, and community awareness. Participants attend monthly seminars with area experts and leaders in the public and private sectors and are encouraged to take part in boardsmanship training in the year following graduation.

The State Chamber's Leadership Nebraska

Created in 2005, Leadership Nebraska works to develop and motivate a cross-section of leaders who will use their talents and abilities to lead within the state of Nebraska. Approximately 30 leaders are selected annually to participate in six two-day educational sessions from February through September. Each of the educational sessions is conducted in a different community and addresses key subjects and critical issues facing Nebraska. Participants are selected based upon their demonstrated skills and experience in civic activities, public affairs and their professional careers, in addition to their interest in Nebraska and her future.

Nebraska Federation of Democratic Women
The National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) supports the inclusion of women’s voices in the Democratic Party. With 32 chapters nationwide, the NFDW promotes Democratic Party goals and candidates and works to unite women party members behind them. NFDW chapters recognize potential women candidates and encourage their candidacies for office. Members attend meetings, organize educational and political events, volunteer for campaigns, and support candidates for office.

Founded in 1966, the National Organization for Women (NOW) is the largest organization of feminist activists in the United States whose goal is to take action to bring about equality for all women. NOW is a multi-issue, multi-strategy organization that takes a holistic approach to women's rights. The organization's official priorities are winning economic equality and securing it with an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that will guarantee equal rights for women; championing abortion rights, reproductive freedom and other women's health issues; opposing racism and fighting bigotry against lesbians and gays; and ending violence against women. NOW has over 550 chapters in all 50 states that participate in education and advocacy activities.
