Emerge Kentucky

Emerge Kentucky is a political leadership program for Democratic women, part of the Emerge America network. The Emerge mission is to identify, educate, and inspire Democratic women who want to pursue careers in politics at the local and state levels. Twenty-five applicants are chosen annually to participate in once-monthly workshops over the course of seven months. Workshops are held at various locations around the state.

Kentucky Republican Women's Roundtable
The Kentucky Women's Roundtable is a series intended to train potential women candidates for public office, in addition to serving as a resource for social and political networking among Kentucky women. The group offers an average of three events per year by invitation. To be included, interested women should contact their political representatives, the state Federation of Republican Women, or Roundtable organizer Gail Russell.

Campaign Management Training Seminar
Sponsored by the Kentucky Farm Bureau
The Kentucky Farm Bureau offers a campaign management training for candidates for public office, their spouses and campaign managers, as well as prospective candidates and campaign managers considering races in future cycles. The two-day training uses content developed by the American Farm Bureau with input from political consultants and staff of both national political parties. Program curriculum is applicable to local, state and national political races and content and includes evaluating the viability of the candidacy; selecting themes and issues; budgeting and raising money; working with the news media; and campaign organization and strategy.

Candidate and Campaign Training
Sponsored by Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, Wellstone Action
Kentuckians for the Commonwealth partners with Wellstone Action to provide workshops building participants' skills, connections, and confidence to work on elections or run for public office. The two days of training include workshops on campaign planning and budgeting, telling your story, grassroots voter contact, fundraising, base-building, stump speeches, developing a winning message and more. Special emphasis is placed on understanding running for office in Eastern Kentucky and Appalachia.

Leadership Training Programs for Women
Women Leading Kentucky
Women Leading Kentucky is an educational organization sponsoring programs/services to promote the importance of developing relationships built on respect and mutual support. Area women are invited to the group's annual business and leadership conference, monthly roundtable lunches addressing issues important to women, mentoring, and access to role models. The organization presents itself as a network of both women and men, not a membership organization.

Established in 1984, Leadership Kentucky encourages community leadership by educating participants on how the state’s issues are interconnected and by forging new relationships among community and regional leaders. Leadership Lexington

Leadership Lexington is a ten-month leadership development program sponsored by Commerce Lexington and directed toward individuals who demonstrate leadership qualities. Each year, participants are chosen to meet once-monthly to better understand Lexington and to prepare for the challenges it faces by meeting with and learning from city leaders. Classes meet in different locations each month and address topics including government, media, growth and preservation, education, public safety, economic and workforce development, arts and quality of life, diversity, human needs and services and leadership development.

Leadership Louisville

Leadership Louisville is a nine-month program for individuals, businesses and organizations interested in developing their leadership skills and heightening their profiles in the community. In once-monthly meetings, participants are educated on the current climate and issues facing the Louisville community. They network with existing community leaders in preparation for leadership roles in the area's public and private sectors. Leadership Louisville also offers a two-and-a-half-day program (FOCUS Louisville) where top city, corporate and community leaders educate participants about community issues.

Democratic Woman's Club of Kentucky
The National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) supports the inclusion of women’s voices in the Democratic Party. With 32 chapters nationwide, the NFDW promotes Democratic Party goals and candidates and works to unite women party members behind them. NFDW chapters recognize potential women candidates and encourage their candidacies for office. Members attend meetings, organize educational and political events, volunteer for campaigns, and support candidates for office.

Through affiliate chapters in nearly every state, the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) promotes the principles, objectives and policies of the Republican Party; elects Republican candidates; informs the public through political education and activity; and increases the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government. Kentucky NOW

Founded in 1966, the National Organization for Women (NOW) is the largest organization of feminist activists in the United States whose goal is to take action to bring about equality for all women. NOW is a multi-issue, multi-strategy organization that takes a holistic approach to women's rights. The organization's official priorities are winning economic equality and securing it with an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that will guarantee equal rights for women; championing abortion rights, reproductive freedom and other women's health issues; opposing racism and fighting bigotry against lesbians and gays; and ending violence against women. NOW has over 550 chapters in all 50 states that participate in education and advocacy activities. Information on state and local chapters of NOW is available on the national NOW website and through state chapters.
