CAWP Internships

  • CAWP generally offers unpaid, volunteer internships.
  • In some cases, we are able to offer credit for internships; this depends on your department's or institution's policy. Internships for academic credit generally require a paper or other written product in addition to work on CAWP projects.
  • Other internships are offered as needed by CAWP staff and faculty. After we review your cover letter and resume, we will decide whether there is a fit between your interests/skills and our current projects.

There are no Spring 2021 internships available at the Center for American Women and Politics. A limited number of internships may be available in the Summer and Fall of 2021. All of those interested in summer and fall internships should contact Christabel Cruz, director of NEW Leadership® at CAWP, with a cover letter and their CV/resume through email at christabel.cruz@rutgers.edu. Those interested in Summer 2021 internships can send emails to indicate their interest between April 15 and May 15, 2021. Those interested in Fall 2021 internships can send emails to indicate their interest between July 15 and August 15, 2021.

Please direct additional general questions about internships at CAWP to Christabel Cruz, director of NEW Leadership® at CAWP.

When I decided to intern at CAWP, I looked forward to the opportunity to help empower and educate other women, and that was incredibly fulfulling. What I could not have predicted was that I would find my own life change – and that I would be so inspired about future work in politics. - Youngmin Yi, Wellesley College Class of 2010
